Nolaween 2009

Started the weekend off right with a tour of the remodeled Abita brewery in Abita Springs, LA.  If my memory serves me right, the old tasting room wasn’t much more than a shack on the edge of their property.  Now they’ve completely redone the tasting room complete with a bar instead of 10 kegurators lined up in a tiny room.  Unfortunately out with the old also went the good old days when you could just hang out all day with the brew master and drink.  Be prepared for prompt cutoff times for beers and they WILL ask you very nicely to leave at the end of the tour.

We moved the party over to the Brew Pub and had dinner.  Either way, the 26 mile drive over the Causeway was worth our trip.

This was my first Halloween in New Orleans and it was quite the experience.  I don’t think I will ever walk down Bourbon past St. Ann’s again on any given occasion that will bring out the goblins.  Frenchman / Marigny was fun but definitely crowded so start working out your bladder now because you’re going to have to hold it in a lot.
